My 2-cents about Interracial romance media

One thing that annoys me with interracial Romances(& those are 1 of my favs), especially those on US TV, in US movies, and in a lot of US Romance Novels, is when the Female Lead(almost always white) falls in love with the only person she's ever interacted with from that group.

I mean, NO FRIENDS? Mentors? Celebs you fangirl over? That Black(or Brown or different culture) man is the ONLY person from that group you've ever interacted with!? I mean, come ON!

Not so in my own Rom-com graphic novel! Not only has my white FL(whom I also refer often to her actual cultural background) grown up having Black teachers, Black schoolmates, has Black friends, & Black poets she looks up to, etc.

I understand that when it comes to interracial Romances, our protags can't be exposed to EVERY culture but our Romance Novel protags are grounded in the real world and depending on where they live, there are often multiculturally diverse demographics.

Variety isn’t just the spice of life, it's a reality, and I'm glad to see it reflecting in the Romance Novels I'm exposed to and that have inspired me further in my own stories.
