Writing and even drawing # Black Hair seems to be a contentious issue. Both from its historical beginnings like the Tignon Laws that required only Black women to wear head coverings because wyt women were jealous that our versatile hair would tempt wyt men.
This leads to the recent passing of the Crown Act, which requires employers/places of employment to no longer discriminate against how a Black employee wears their hair naturally, to the recent lawsuits against perming hair companies/brands that marketed towards Black women and Black girls because of the high amount of cancer sufferers
Coming forward, to game developers and character designers being challenged by many in the gaming community to come up with more styles for video game Black characters sporting only two hair styles, to high-profile wyt women sporting Black hairstyles to be called "innovative" and "trail-blazing" while the same high-profile Black women are often discouraged from wearing those same styles.
To Hollywood lacking in Black stylists and stylists who aren't trained, much less, unlicensed to do Black hair while hairstyling schools charge Black stylists higher tuition fees, the grievances, discriminations, and outright oppression towards Black Hair is a list that keeps being added to.
I am preparing the next thread on Twitter and will expand and post here afterwards.
