So many social media to Upload, Update, and Upgrade...

I have not posted anything new to my Instagram account since New Year's. 

I decided to give my phone a break and had looked up last year how to post to IG from a computer and can I say the directions and steps were RIDICULOUS. 

I don't know what kind of nonsense Instagram is trying to pull, but I just posted four new pieces of artwork I did during the week of Christmas. 

And I didn't even have to do a third of the steps Instagram posted on their official page. Maybe some IG employee is trolling but I got those done. There are still more but most of the latest have been posted.

Also, DeviantArt upped their already A-Game to an A+. It is SO MUCH SMOOTHER to upload to the DA account and the old way was actually nice...

Blogs have been updated, website needs a new host and upgrade, will soon post new art prints to Gumroad, and there are a few online subscriptions that need canceling or I roll them back to free. 

Anyhoo, I'm working on some personal paperwork and trying to make some big changes to my social media and freelance work for 2022. Make sure you keep an eye out and I'll try to stay in touch.

Tabber the Red is 14 now and my Life still Matters

My official website, Tabber the Red, turns 14 years old this July 2020.

To have my own website bothered me throughout the late 90s. By the 2000s, I played around with various software available to me.

Eventually, the aesthetic you see now came about from 2006, and by July 2007, when that aspect of the website officially went online, a few major milestones had happened: I was without a father for the first time. And I was coming more into my own on online.

Also, I am a Black person and identify as a cisgender straight woman. Black Lives Matter. Black Trans Lives Matter. Black Life Matters. MY Black Life Matters.

Just A Quick Note...

Oh snap, my website upgrade is nearly done! Created a whole new About Me page along with a photo I edited. I'm going to test out the website upload. And I also resubmitted a recently rejected essay (but the feedback was glowing and sweet) to a literary journal I absolutely adore. Wish me luck!

More Random Thoughts from Journal Land

Camp NaNoWriMo started but this week took a bit much out of me, plus, I plunked down some hefty funds to get my eyes tested for new prescription frames! I was given a 40% discount but I'm poor until my next paycheck.

More news! Tabber the Red site will have a new look this July! In time for its birthday! So, working on some new Tabber stories set in world while also giving the official website a new face! Ay...

More random notes from the journals - this time, I need to do things on smaller paper or I feel I can't finish it! (Psychologically the same as getting the same amount of food put in a smaller bowl or on a smaller plate)

11x14 paper will be used as drafting/composition ideas!

9x12 will be for larger pieces such as character sheets, profiles, and storyboards.

Finally, 7x10 will be my magic number when it comes to final comic/graphic novel/manga artwork, which can be better scanned and formatted for digital submission.

May God help me with the next coming months. It's gonna be a doozy!

The little things in life...

About four days ago, my cellphone died.

Though this annoys me, I did write a scene in longhand that needed to be jotted for a while. Nine pages were composed on a Sunday and I even updated the homepage for my official website. It was the fastest update I did in the ten years I've had the site!

I think the problem is what I do with my cellphones: I don't just text and talk. I blog, I update to social media, I research, I check accounts, I record, I write notes, stories, and essays. If I could do illustrations on my phones, I would.

Thank goodness the cellphone was still under warranty, most of my apps and info are on the cloud, and a replacement is suppose to arrive later this evening.

RIP, my LG V10. RIP.

The latest happening...

Haven't posted to my blog. So many things going on...
A co-worker and good friend suddenly went into a coma, was in that state for over two weeks, and then suddenly passed away.

I've been applying to many writing grants and other opportunities because I was planning to quit one of my jobs. Now I realize I must keep the job all the way into next year but continue to apply for those writing grants.

My novel is continuing. Just need to add more meat in-between chapters.

Ever since I participated in Inktober this October, I have reinvigorated my sense of artwork and changed my paradigm view on myself as an artist. Now I'm receiving more info to sell my pieces.

I also am revising a number of short fiction that can expand my submission opportunities. Not only to help market my upcoming novel but help with those grant opportunities.

I am also trying to vidcast and podcast some more to get my Introverted self ready for more marketing within the writing and art communities.

So yeah. A lot has been going on and will continue, G-d willing, into 2017.

This has been a difficult year for many of us and I hope and pray for a more prospering and fulfilling future.

Every July I celebrate the inception of my website.

It has had a number of web hosts, its templates have been changed, and its overall appearance and aesthetic has been considered, reconsidered, and then implemented. 

If something does not work, I change it.

Tabber the Red first went live in July 2006. Since then, my official website has yielded many benefits. It helped me find employment, helped editors to see my work. Readers to find me in one place instead of using a search engine.

In July 2006, my first venture into the online community started with this site! It is now grown to be 8 Years Old and I couldn't be prouder!

Birth of a website...

Now before you think, "That shouldn't be a big deal for you! You've gotta IT degree!" Hold Your Horses. It isn't that simple. It is not that easy. I had struggled before returning to school to put into practice what I had stayed up countless nights teaching myself.

Those first attempts were painful, a lot of blood and sweat. Teary nights.

I learned different web-building applications. I experimented with different FTP software.
I needed to know web hosting and how to pick a company. I feared certain software while I admired others' use of it.

Finally, I found that one of my email companies had started their own web hosting. I immediately signed up as I already had an account.

Eventually, I had a site. I added more pages to it. I tweaked, changed, removed and altered.

The website saw me through the beaten pavement that is unemployment.
Through dissolved friendships. Even the death of loved ones.

Each time I upgraded, I grew more savvy. I stopped using ready made templates and used actual web-building software.

Eventually, I cut a multiple web page to 5, and then to 4, and now to its present-day, economical 3 page site.

Soon, I purchased two other domains to keep the name of my character intact.

There is the simple story about a website.

Birth of a website...

It was a struggle. A personal and professional one. I was newly out of university with an IT degree, and because I could not pass the exams, my employment prospects were slim. Most of the jobs I wanted needed people with either or both C++, A+, Java and MCSE certifications.
All my life, I was a better scholar than student.
A better learner than test-taker.
Like Clint Eastwood said, "A man's got to know his limitations." and I knew mine. I needed fresh, new plans.. I needed to build a website.

Now, you must be wondering WHY I make such a big deal about my titular site, "Tabber the Red". Well, it's not out of narcissism or self-indulgence. Though like many a creative type, I want to make my name, leave an indelible print, the website's origins are from much humbler thoughts and naive ideas...
